There's some sad news for Deadliest Catch fans.

Former Deadliest Catch captain Blake Painter was found dead in his home in OR on Friday, the Clatsop County Sheriff's office confirms to PEOPLE.

Bergin said Painter had been dead for a couple of days by the time deputies entered the house and found him.

According to the TMZ account, a friend of Painter's contacted authorities after not having heard from Painter for a few days.

There is no reported cause of death, as of this writing. An autopsy was immediately ordered on the body. Painter was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, unlawful possession of heroin, tampering with physical evidence and reckless driving.

Painter was the caption of the F/V Maverick on Deadliest Catch, which airs on Discovery Channel.

Phil Harris, one of the most popular fishermen on the show, died of a massive stroke while offloading his catch in 2010. The reality star was only 38 years old.

Painter, an expert crab fisherman, appeared on Season 2 and part of Season 3 from 2006 to 2007 before deciding to leave "Deadliest Catch".
