WorldStage Newsonline-Following the disruption and cancellation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary election by the Ekiti State Chapter of Saturday, 5th May, 2018, the leadership of the party from the South West geo-political zone has met the 33 Governorship Aspirants who participated in the primary election and get them to commit to a free and fair rescheduled election on Friday, May 11, 2018.

There was drama at Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday as the Olajide Awe-led exco resumed office two days after scores of party members invaded the place and shut it down.

The meeting comes just as the APC announced a new date for its botched primary in Ekiti to elect is flag bearer for the July 12 governorship election.

They were also said to have announced the immediate formation of a pro-Fayemi caretaker committee.

"The leaders at the meeting held at the Lagos State Governor's Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja were Chief Bisi Akande, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Chief Pius Akinyelure".

According to a report by The Punch, the meeting has in attendance most of the contestants.

A national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and a former governor of Ogun State, Segun Osoba, are now meeting with some Ekiti governorship aspirants of the APC.

He said "the Ekiti APC executive has moved for a consensus candidate, which is against the constitution of our party".

Although he did not speak to reporters, another aspirant, Segun Oni, dismissed insinuations that Fayemi walked out of the meeting.

As contained in the statement, Fayemi spokesperson said, "The Minister, however, said he could not make the second part of the meeting when it reconvened later in the evening, having earlier taken permission from the leaders to attend another meeting".
