Facebook developer conference kicks off in San Jose amid scandal

On Tuesday, before the start of Facebook's annual developer conference, F8, Mr. Zuckerberg announced the introduction of a new privacy control that allows people to clear their history on the social network, essentially erasing what they have browsed on the site. They will then be able to delete this information from their account, and also turn off the ability for Facebook to store or link it to their profile going forward.

A spokesperson told Recode that while the data would no longer be linked to a profile, it may still be analysed as part of an anonymised, aggregated set.

Zuckerberg added that Facebook updated want to enter an available feature that allows you to clear the browsing history on the social network and all user activity.

And now the CEO will appear at Facebook's F8 developer conference on Tuesday.

In April, however, the data scandal involving Cambridge Analytica erupted, causing a public outcry and prompting Facebook to promise to go even further.

Zuckerberg said he felt deleting this information would make for a poorer experience, but that it was important for users to have better control.

Facebook joins internet giants Amazon, Microsoft and Google in offering artificial-intelligence based translation features - most prominently Google's Pixel ear buds which promise real-time translation across dozens of languages.

It's not clear just how long it will take Facebook to bring Clear History to all of its users, but the company will nearly certainly be working to get it out the door as quickly as possible in the face of increasing criticism and scrutiny of its privacy policies.

The new "Clear History" feature that Facebook is working on is similar to what you might see in a browser.

As I said yesterday, there are over 40 million Facebook users in the United Kingdom and they deserve to hear accurate answers from the company he created and whether it is able to keep their users' data safe. "We have real challenges to address but we have to keep that sense of optimism too".

Facebook is building a tool that will let its users opt out of giving the platform permission to access their browsing history data, which the company uses to sell targeted ads.
