Facebook eyes VR accessibility as it launches Oculus Go for $199

The Oculus Go standalone head-mounted display (HMD) has launched today, available in 23 countries via Oculus.com with those in the USA also able to purchase the headset from Amazon, Newegg and Best Buy.

The webpage, which went live at midnight, gives users the option to pre-order one of Facebook's first standalone VR headsets. Amazon says that it "does not know when or if this item will be back in stock".

However, as of Tuesday morning, the $199 Oculus Go appeared to have already sold out as the Amazon listed it as now unavailable.

It seems likely we'll hear more about availability at Facebook's F8 conference, which begins in San Jose, California today. Barra has reappeared again this time in a new unboxing video for Oculus Go. "While the actual unboxing is fairly uninteresting itself Barra does make some interesting comments about Oculus Go, revealing that the 5.5" 2560 x 1440 WQHD, fast-switch LCD display offers a higher resolution than its bigger brother, the Oculus Rift. You can also watch programming from the device via Hulu and Netflix.
