A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows mosquitoes are carrying diseases at alarming numbers.

The most common tick-borne diseases in the United States were Lyme disease and ehrlichiosis/anaplasmosis.

"Lyme disease accounted for 82 percent of all tick-borne disease reports during 2004-2016", the CDC team wrote in their report. For example, although the Zika virus can cause devastating birth defects, pregnant mothers or other adults who become infected with the disease typically only experience mild symptoms.
