That seems like it would be a flawless announcement to hold for its press conference, but Square Enix instead opted to reveal the release date during the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour. It's based on Disney's hit animated film Frozen. We still might perhaps get some more gameplay at the conference though, so it might be time to get your hopes up.

Microsoft showed off a new world for Kingdom Hearts III during its Electronic Entertainment Expo event today in Los Angeles.

A follow-up tweet noted that trailers and more information will be coming at E3.

Square Enix won't be hosting its E3 2018 press conference until tomorrow, but it's getting the announcements going a little early. Released as part of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, the compilation also included a PlayStation 4 version of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance as well as the movie Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover.

Update: The game will launch in Japan on January 25. Kingdom Hearts II came out in 2006.
