Latest Harvey Weinstein accuser questions methods of his defense attorney: Lawsuit

Brafman is defending Weinstein following his indictment last week on rape and sex crime charges.

Three women filed a class action lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein on Friday - a fresh blow for the fallen movie mogul, who was arrested in NY and indicted on rape and other charges related to sexual misconduct last week. The first had other people present, but she was alone for the second, when Weinstein requested that she join him in his bed, and expose her breast.

The lawsuit is the third class action suit filed against Weinstein by Hagens Berman since late a year ago. "She knew that Weinstein could and would destroy her if she complained about his sexual misconduct".

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages as well as retribution for class members' loss of work opportunities and "devastating damage" to their careers.

"As if it wasn't enough that I was assaulted by Harvey Weinstein, Brafman & Associates led me to believe that they were going to help the group of women assaulted by him - when, in fact, they were Weinstein's lead criminal defense attorneys", Thompson said in a statement.

They are suing Weinstein - as well as Miramax and The Weinstein Company - for assault, battery and racketeering.

Responding to Trump's description of him as "Animal Assad", the Syrian leader said: "What you say is what you are". Trump called Assad an "animal" after a suspected poison gas attack on a rebel-held town near Damascus in April.

Brafman's law firm was named as a defendant in the lawsuit along with Weinstein's former movie company Miramax and The Weinstein Company. Three plaintiffs filed the new complaint - obtained by Variety - in Manhattan's Southern District, citing three incidents that occurred in as many countries, between 1996 and 2011.

The lawsuit was filed one week after he was arrested on rape and criminal sex act charges stemming from accounts by other women.

"Harvey Weinstein may have been put in handcuffs for his assault on two women, but we are working to see a day of justice for the hundreds of women who were exploited for Weinstein's sexual gratification and silenced by this ring of conspirators", Elizabeth Fegan, an attorney who worked on Friday's lawsuit, said, according to The Associated Press.

Brafman and Spiro denied the allegations.

Brafman defended Weinstein on the steps of the court house in NY last Friday after the disgraced producer was taken there in handcuffs to face charges.

In a release, Thompson said she was referred to Ben Brafman's law firm after allegations from dozens of women made headlines last fall.
