Trump Aide Larry Kudlow Calls Justin Trudeau Trade Comments A 'Betrayal'

In a tweet posted Saturday evening, Trump said his decision was based on "false statements" made by Trudeau during a press conference he gave, as well as "the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs" on us companies.

President Trump's chief economic adviser accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of stabbing the US and fellow G-7 negotiators in the back with "amateurish" verbal attacks during a domestic press conference.

Trudeau said he had reiterated to Mr. Trump, who left the G7 meeting before it ended, that tariffs would harm industries and workers on both sides of the U.S.

Mr Trump earlier warned his counterparts against retaliation after the United States imposed tariffs on steel and aluminium from Europe, Mexico and Canada - saying they would be "making a mistake".

There had been widespread speculation that the G-7 nations would not issue a joint communique that included the United States due to deep differences between Trump administration and close American allies on trade.

"We're like the piggy bank that everybody is robbing", he said at an earlier news conference as his counterparts continued their meeting in La Malbaie, Quebec, and officials hammered out a joint communique.

On Sunday morning, two Trump economic advisers, Larry Kudlow and Peter Navarro, ratcheted up the bizarro rhetoric.

But Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Sunday on ABC's "This Week", "I'm not so sure John's right about where America is on trade". Trudeau said Canada will enforce retaliatory tariffs because of Trump's actions.

"Canada is very clear", she said.

"Not to sign a statement of solidarity, which stands for everything that we stand for, is a big mistake", Feinstein said.

Internationally, one European diplomat says the rest of the G7 will carry on despite the president's online attack against Trudeau and his decision to pull out of the final G7 communique. "We have a bad actor in ZTE.President (Donald Trump) did this as a personal favor to the president of China as a way of showing some good will".

A later statement, released by a member of Mr Trudeau's communications team on Twitter, said there was nothing new in the Prime Minister's press conference.

The Prime minister's spokesman tweeting that what Trudeau said wasn't anything he hadn't already said to Trump himself.

Trump announced after Trudeau's press conference that the USA would not sign onto the G-7 communique.
