Ex-UCLA Star, NBA Player Tyler Honeycutt Killed After Shootout With LAPD

After a prolonged standoff, SWAT teams entered the house early on Saturday morning and found the suspect "unresponsive".

The LAPD then issued another statement saying they located an unresponsive male at the scene. When officers arrived at the home, near Riverside Drive and Tyrone Avenue, the suspect opened fire on them, authorities said.

The man reportedly barricaded himself inside the home.

Family members identified Honeycutt on Saturday, after reports that the man had been a former basketball player for both UCLA and the NBA, according to ABC 7. He was declared dead at the scene by the fire department. He was then selected by the Sacramento Kings in the 2011 NBA Draft and only played two seasons in the pros. He declared for the National Basketball Association after his sophomore campaign, getting drafted by the NBA's Sacramento Kings.
