Manchester United agree deal for Daley Blind to rejoin Ajax

Ajax have agreed a fee with Manchester United to take Daley Blind back to Amsterdam.

But since Jose Mourinho arrival in 2016, Blind's playing time has decreased significantly. He was hired as a first team player and in his first season played a prominent role in most games from central midfield.

Ajax general manager Edwin van der Sar has branded Daley Blind "a fantastic player" as the Dutch giants reportedly close on a deal for the Manchester United midfielder.

Sources told ESPN FC the fee for the 28-year-old is £14.1 million, possibly rising to £18.5m with add-ons, giving United a slight profit on the £13.8m they paid Ajax for his services in 2014.

That was reduced to just seven appearances for United in the Premier League last season as a result of injuries and being out of favour, with four of those appearances coming from the start.

"He's multi-functional, can be a left-back, centre-half and a defensive midfielder".

Ajax are reported to have agreed a fee of €16m (£14.1m) with United for the Dutch global on Saturday, although add-ons could increase the fee to €21m (£18.5m).

Blind returned to United for pre-season training but was left out of the squad which travelled to America on Sunday.
