Outrageous Or Overblown? HHS Announces Another Round Of ACA Navigator Funding Cuts

Since Republican campaigns to kill Obamacare failed in Congress past year, the Trump administration has been taking every opportunity to sabotage the Affordable Care Act.

So the suspension of risk adjustment payments could throw the rate-filing process into chaos, said Cynthia Fox, director of health reform and private insurance at Kaiser Family Foundation.

Past year a massive organization of volunteers stepped up to fill in for the navigators the administration slashed, and had remarkable success in getting people enrolled. "And the reason that the penetration of value-based programs-even those that have upside-only risk-[has lagged] is that reluctance and the sense that they don't have deep capital reserves, aren't prepared and equipped to handle a significant financial shock like some sort of clawback because they missed their targets", Abrams says.

Over the past year, the White House has issued a number of executive orders and undertaken administrative actions to undercut the program popularly known as Obamacare. This year they helped sign up almost 520,000 people for health insurance sold through the ACA exchange in North Carolina.

When the ACA was passed in 2010, one of the most important tenets of the law was the rule stating that insurers must accept all patients regardless of their health history.

Now, months later, CMS has asked the New Mexico judge to reconsider the decision, and in the meantime, it suspended the program.

The Trump administration just halted a key set of payments to Obamacare insurers, but it's consumers who could wind up having to foot the bill.

Over the weekend arrived some fresh political fury that the Trump Administration is trying to sabotage ObamaCare by suspending something called "risk adjustment" payments.

Final Rescue Mission For Trapped Thai Boys' Football Team Is Underway
Elite military and divers from several countries entered the cave on three separate days to bring out the boys one by one. The first people to find the 12 boys and their coach were British divers John Volanthen and Richard Stanton.

A former CMC head during the Obama government, Andy Slavitt, indicated on Twitter that because in the long-run there will be the eventual payment of the finances, no insurers need to pull-out from the markets or act out of context or feat at the moment.

But as the ACA's sixth open-enrollment period under the health law approaches in November, the lack of in-person assistance is unlikely to be a disaster for people seeking coverage, insurance and health experts say. The funding will be delivered to eligible organizations that can help individuals enroll in ACA health plans. "We see, in all these various places we're in, that people want the product we have".

"President Trump indicated his support for the plan the day after its publication, tweeting: "...on conservative health plan: "'The White House fully supports the efforts of the broad coalition from around the country working to address the Obamacare disaster and increase affordable healthcare options for middle-class Americans'".

For the past five years, when insurance has been available through ACA marketplaces for people who do not have access to affordable health benefits through a job, federal health officials have started every spring working with navigator groups on plans for the coming enrollment season. The assault on pre-existing condition protections may make its way to the Supreme Court soon, and if Brett Kavanaugh is sitting on the bench, affordable health care for all will be at serious risk.

The plan would replace federal payments to insurance companies with block grants to states, allowing states to "innovate" by providing low-cost, low-benefit plans.

"I can not justify paying that much money for a health-care service that I use once a year", she said.
