The NFL's supplemental draft is normally a mid-July non-event that comes and goes without any players going anywhere.

But with Reese now gone and the more ambitious Dave Gettleman having taken over, the Giants once again dipped into the supplemental draft pool.

A three-year starter for the Bulldogs at safety, Bryant primarily lined up to the wide side of the formation as a junior with reps deep and over the slot. That familiarity helped the Redskins in deciding whether or not to draft a player who was declared academically ineligible for his redshirt senior season.

At least two national experts don't expect the Lions to participate in the draft.

The other two players available are less likely to be drafted Wednesday: Grand Valley State running back Marty Carter and Oregon State linebacker Bright Ugwoegbu.

A Sporting News story lists more than half of the NFL's teams as potential participants, but not the Lions. Nonetheless, both players are viewed as guys that teams could give up a top-three round pick in the Supplemental Draft.

Beal is the highest player selected in the NFL's supplemental draft since the Browns used a second-round pick on Josh Gordon in 2012.

This means the Broncos stand a pretty good chance of winning a "bid" for a player should they choose to submit one in any given round.

United States fires next shot in China trade war

Croatia Rewrite History and Reach Semi-Final
The match started at a high tempo, with Russian Federation not giving the Croats space and time to play in the middle of the park. Midfielder Denis Cheryshev used his left boot to rip a shot into the near post netting, beating Croatian keeper Danijel Subasic.

Apple Music Now Has More Paying Subscribers Than Spotify in the US
Apple Music and Spotify can now both claim "20 million plus" subscribers in the United States, putting them essentially in a tie. Many believed that it was just a matter of time before Apple Music grabs the top spot in the music streaming service.

Three of the five players in the supplemental draft are defensive backs. Of those 45 players, eight have gone on to make the Pro Bowl during their National Football League careers.

No player has been selected by any team since 2015, when the Rams took Clemson offensive lineman Isaiah Battle.

However, Sam Beal has no negative reports about him coming into the supplemental draft. It's not known whether Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins' recent incident involving an acquaintance who was murdered at his residence - Jenkins' brother has been charged with manslaughter - had any bearing on the Beal selection. Remember, the Colts have an extra second-round selection from the trade with the Jets.

Alexander (6-2, 195) was considered a candidate for San Francisco because of his rare size and length for the position.

Washington acquired Virginia Tech cornerback Adonis Alexander with a sixth-round bid. If a team, especially a contender, spends a second round pick on him, I won't be mad.

Not the most physical player, Beal is effective enough in rerouting his man with his hands, doing so while maintaining a speed that most cornerbacks simply can not handle. Watching him on film, I think he has tools to develop into a starting safety if he gets a bit better with his eyes. The Colts are looking at 6 selections in the first 4 rounds next April, so it wouldn't be as crippling to make a "high risk, high reward" move on a player like Alexander or Beal.

The Texans, however, are primed to make a splash in the supplemental draft.

According to Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com, the Colts are one of four teams who have met with Alexander.
