Papa John's to pull founder from marketing

As of Friday afternoon, images of Schnatter appeared to have been removed from the company's website.

University of Louisville President Neeli Bendapudi announced Friday that the school will change the name of its football stadium from Papa John's Stadium to Cardinal Stadium after John Schnatter, the pizza company's founder, admitted he used the n-word during a conference call with marketing executives. Schnatter released a statement Wednesday apologizing, which said in part, "Regardless of the context, I apologize".

Still, Hollingsworth said he doesn't think the latest Schnatter incident will hurt Papa John's over the long run because people often have short memories. He then resigned as Papa John's chairman and from the University of Louisville's governing board.

The situation illustrates the difficulty when companies are closely tied to a single person, and that Papa John's may need to publicly distance itself further from Schnatter after dealing with backlashes brought about by his comments.

Pizza-craving baseball fans have other - and, frankly, better - options at Target Field, including Pizza Lucé (Section 234), by-the-slice Freschetta (Sections 122 and 318), and stone-oven personals (Carew Atrium). Not only is he featured in many TV commercials, but his face is emblazoned on pizza boxes and at the center of the logo.

Kerber holds nerve on seventh match point to reach Wimbledon semi-finals
Kerber, who won the Australian and US Open titles in 2016, will be playing in the seventh Grand Slam semifinal of her career. When she finds it, she'll be a hell of a player. "I feel like I am back, I still have a long way to where I was".

Kerber 2-3 Ostapenko in first set
Ostapenko, seeded 12th at SW19, threw everything at her opponent but was not able to haul herself back into the contest at all. I nearly couldn't make it to my mailbox, so it's definitely not normal for me to be in a Wimbledon final".

Who is Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s Nominee to the Supreme Court?
Republicans, meanwhile, hope centrist Democrats running for re-election in conservative-leaning states will back Kavanaugh . There were also pledges of open minds by key senators whose votes will most likely determine the outcome.

"Our community has been fractured by the comments made by former UofL trustee John Schnatter", Bendapudi said in a statement she read to reporters, adding that the comments were "hurtful and unacceptable".

"Colonel Sanders called blacks n--s", Schnatter reportedly said on the call. The Miami Marlins, meanwhile, announced they would be closing the Papa John's concession stand at their stadium. After consequently resigning as chairman of the board, the Associated Press reports that Papa John's will also stop using Schnatter's face in logos and ads.

"I said it, and it's wrong", he said. The resignation came hours after Schnatter apologized for using a racial slur during a conference call in May.

Papa John's stock is up almost 3% Friday on the news.

The company can not afford to alienate customers, with sales already under pressure from rivals such as Domino's. For the first three months of this year, the chain said a key sales figure fell 5.3 per cent in North America.
