Stormy Daniels arrested in OH during strip club show

Charges against Stormy Daniels following an OH strip club arrest were dropped on Thursday (July 12) after her lawyer slammed a "politically motivated" setup against the adult film star suing US President Donald Trump. Avenatti tweeted. "Are you kidding me?" She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.

According to Clifford's attorney, Michael Avenatti, Clifford was reportedly arrested for permitting a strip club patron to touch her while onstage.

Avenatti, who has been a familiar face on USA cable TV since becoming Daniels' attorney, claimed Daniels performed the same act at Sirens that she had performed at almost 100 strip clubs across the US. "We also expect that she will be charged with a misdemeanor for allowing 'touching, '" Avenatti later added.

Charging documents say Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was arrested for touching a patron at a "sexually oriented" business in violation of the law commonly known as the Community Defense Act.

"This is ridiculous that law enforcement resources were used to conduct this sting operation", he said. "There has to be higher priorities", Avenatti wrote on Twitter.

But according to an arrest report cited by Columbus news station WBNS, police accuse Daniels of touching "a specified anatomical area" of individuals present at the performance, including police officers. Columbus police have made numerous arrests utilizing this law.

Columbus police said Thursday that Daniels' arrest was part of a long-term human trafficking investigation of illegal activity at city adult clubs.

"They asked her if they could place their face in between her breasts while she was performing on stage", Avenatti said, referring to the officers.

After posting a $6,054 bail, Daniel was released, court records show.

He says he's confident that she'll be cleared of all charges. A person who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment.

Later Thursday morning, Avenatti noted, "My client @StormyDaniels will issue a plea of "Not Guilty" to the three misdemeanor charges".

The Columbus Dispatch reported that the law, in effect since 2007, is seldom enforced.

Daniels has filed two lawsuits against Trump, one to get out of a non-disclosure agreement she had signed in October 2016 ahead of the November presidential election in exchange for the $130,000, and another for defamation. "I am all for following the rules and going by the book, no touching, no this, no that, but also at the same time, in my opinion, I feel like it was completely harmless", Curry said.
