Matteo Darmian still keen to leave Manchester United

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is a step closer to leaving Old Trafford after Napoli confirmed they have submitted a bid for the Italy worldwide.

Since joining from Torino in 2015, Darmian has made 85 appearances for the Red Devils, but featured just eight times in the Premier League for Jose Mourinho's team last term.

"Matteo wants to leave and I think when a player wants to leave, if the right offer arrives you have to try to be human and let the player follow his instinct but not at any price", Mourinho said, via Sky Sports.

"[A move?] Yes, that's what I want but we will see what happens because we don't know".

Darmian has played a full role for United in pre-season, even starting the 4-1 friendly loss to Liverpool despite stating his intention to leave, but his misery looks set to come to an end. "I don't know how long he needs to stay out, but at the moment he is the captain, he's first choice". He also opened up about his possible destination, with a move back to Italy being one of the possibility.
