Motorola confirms there won’t be a Moto Z3 Force this year

Gaurang Telang, Motorola's product manager for Flagships and Innovation, confirmed to Engadget that the 5G Mod "won't be the last Mod", and that Moto Mods would "absolutely" continue to be part of the brand's mobile strategy for the foreseeable future. This means, unlike the last year Moto Z family that included the Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play, there will be the Moto Z3 and Moto Z3 Play this year.

Motorola is positioning the Moto Z3 as the first 5G upgradeable phone, and that's fine.

Like we were expecting, Motorola stuck with a similar design once again as to accommodate all of the Moto Mods that have been released up until this point. In essence, the 5G Moto Mod can also serve as an additional source of power for the Moto Z3.

The Moto Z3 is the first 5G phone-with an asterisk.

The 5G Moto Mod will go on sale sometime in early 2019, but there's no word on pricing just yet.

The Z3 packs dual rear cameras with one color 12 MP f/2.0 sensor with 1.25um pixels and a 12 MP monochrome sensor, and a dual-LED flash.

What do you think of the Moto Z3 and its newest Moto Mod?

Motorola One Power and Moto Power, speculated to be the company's new Android One devices, were also expected to be unveiled at the event. The company has also partnered with Qualcomm to use its flagship Snapdragon X50 modem and millimetre wave components for the new mod. The Moto Z3 comes with Turbopower support. The handset also a side-facing fingerprint sensor - embedded on the right. The Mod will definitely only work on Verizon's 5G network, not any other carrier's, though. It's looking like it'll be a little while before we see 5G technology built directly into phones.

Verizon will once again be the exclusive seller of the Moto flagship device. The phone will cost $480 or $20 per month if you opt for 24 monthly payments. You will need to purchase the accessory separately, but the fact that Motorola has beaten other manufacturers despite not even being in the top five smartphone manufacturers in the world, that is an impressive feat.

Not as much as a whisper has landed on our ears when it came to this phone.

The good news is Motorola doesn't seem to be giving up on the Moto Z completely.

5G Moto Mod will enable high-speed 4K live streaming and video chatting, lag-free gaming and VR experiences along with faster download speeds on Moto Z3. Meanwhile you can buy any MotoMod that's over $100 for just $50, for a limited time only.
