Delayed Nintendo Direct Confirmed for Tomorrow

Nintendo's Switch NES controllers will be available for pre-order on 18 September and will begin shipping in December 2018.

Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Switch Online service would launch on September 18th in North America, with a United Kingdom launch happening the following day. Once September 18's updated is installed, you won't be able to unlink the profiles anymore.

Today Nintendo hosted a "Nintendo Direct", a special stream that Nintendo hosts when the company has an (or several) announcement to make, typically for new consoles and games.

While Switch Online will rid of the ability to play online multiplayer games for free, Nintendo is assuring users that not all online features will require a subscription from September. Super Mario Bros. and forthcoming Excitebike and Ice Climber games. Nintendo is also offering a family plan for $35 per year. For $59.99, you get a pair with rechargable batteries that can attach to your Nintendo Switch to charge when not in use.

The delayed Nintendo Direct didn't hold back in showing off the primary features for the Nintendo Switch Online service. Both have offered online services for years, but at a much costlier price.

After the maintenance is complete, Nintendo Switch Online memberships will be available for purchase.
