Global friendly: Rashford gets England back to winning ways over Switzerland

Striker Marcus Rashford scored a second-half victor as a young and much-changed England avoided an unprecedented fourth-successive defeat by beating Switzerland 1-0 in a friendly worldwide on Tuesday. Loftus-Cheek, who has become the canary in the mine for England's youth development pathway, had played only 33 minutes for Chelsea this season prior to kickoff, while Delph was making his first appearance of the campaign.

But they recovered after a poor first half, thanks to Rashford's 54th-minute strike.

Manchester United forward Rashford gave the Three Lions an early lead at home to Spain on Sunday (AEST) before they fell to a 2-1 UEFA Nations League defeat.

"The first half was quite predictable really, but the players needed the game".

"We didn't get hold of their pivot in the first half, [Granit] Xhaka was always available and their back three were finding him too easily".

Behind them, manager Gareth Southgate's squad contained only five midfielders. "The second half wasn't incredible, but it was better than the first and we're over the moon we got the win".

The tweet came in response to reports following a meeting between Kim and South Korean leaders earlier this week. Narrowing the gap and rebuilding trust between Kim and Trump is key in the dialogue - if any - ahead, he said.

Kane is among the top strikers in the world, Rashford has plenty of potential but features mainly as a substitute for Manchester United, while Welbeck has a strong global record but plays a bit-part at Arsenal. "All of us, we weren't happy with the performance at halftime".

The victory ended a run of three successive defeats before next month's Nations League ties in Croatia and Spain. "I was training for six weeks throughout the summer while I was at the World Cup", he said.

But his side, containing nine changes from the weekend, was struggling even to cope with the Swiss' passing and movement as the visitors enjoyed almost 65 per cent possession before the break.
