Jones also hurled other attacks at Rubio, including calling the Florida senator a "little frat boy", "snake-like" and a "gangster thug".

"Hey, don't touch me again, man", Rubio said.

"Who are you? I swear to God, I don't know who you are, man", Rubio said as he faced Jones.

"You're not gonna get arrested", Rubio told him.

Jones on Wednesday confronted CNN's Oliver Darcy, the network said, who has reported extensively on Twitter's rules, and Jones' violations of them.

Jones then interrupted again, and asked if Rubio was going to have him arrested. "You're going to beat me up?"

That led Jones to repeatedly argue to the assembled reporters that Rubio "threatened to physically take care of me".

"Who's this guy, why are you platforming him?"

It's official: Twitter has permanently banned conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his website Infowars. "I'll take care of it myself".

Wednesday morning Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg met with senators to discuss the spread of false information on their platforms and censorship of users deemed hateful or abusive. Outside in the hallway, InfoWars host Alex Jones took the opportunity to crash an interview with Sen. "This whole Russiagate thing is about delegitimizing the election that the people had in 2016", Jones said.

Last month, Twitter gave Jones a small punishment for his inflammatory behavior on the platform-a one-week suspension that prevented Jones from tweeting or retweeting from his personal account.

Before Facebook and Twitter's congressional hearing, Jones held his own press conference.

Rubio returned to the committee and told reporters "you guys can talk to this clown", referring to Jones.

Neither Jones nor Infowars actually earned a mention inside the Senate's hearing room, as lawmakers debated how to combat the influence of foreign powers like Russian Federation to influence the American political process.

Jones, of course, continued to mock Rubio after the confrontation ended.

Among other claims, Alex Jones (file photo) has called the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting a hoax.
