Here's all the new Surface hardware Microsoft unveiled this afternoon

At the event, a black Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Pro 6 are expected. Those include the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2, along with the Surface Studio 2 and the surprise unveiling of the Surface Headphones.

Microsoft's hosting its annual hardware event later today in NY, and that means we are expected to see the new Surface range and maybe a bunch of other things too.

The Surface Laptop 2 is also getting 8th Gen Intel Core processors and a new black color (yep, in Alcantara!).

It also has the "thinnest touchscreen display on any laptop", according to Microsoft Surface chief Panos Panay.

It is also claimed that storage will be provided by an SSD with 128GB on-board.

The company introduced the Surface in 2012 and has steadily added more products under that brand name, including the Surface Studio all-in-one PC and Surface Laptop clamshell device.

Microsoft is looking to breathe new life into their Surface line-up this year, as evidenced by today's Surface-focused event. USB-C still - surprisingly - isn't supported.

However, just hours before the event, an image of the new Surface devices has leaked, all but confirming the new shade. In regards to the Surface Pro 6, the barebone basic model will reportedly come with just 4GB RAM, and an Intel Core m3 CPU.

The Surface Pro 6 is faster than its predecessor.

We're also anticipating Microsoft opening the floodgates for Windows 10 October 2018 Update downloads at the same time, considering how the Insider Preview build is officially RTM (ready to manufacture) and October 2 is technically a "Patch Tuesday" for Microsoft, when updates to Windows 10 generally occur. The 2-in-1 device will run on Windows 10 and will also be equipped with Bluetooth 4.1.

In regards to a release, the Surface Pro 6 is available to pre-order today and will begin shipping on October 16.

As for the display, it's supposedly 38 percent brighter than the first Surface Studio with 22 percent more contrast, which is made possible by new LCD and oxide transistor technology. You can charge them via USB-C and while they're US -only for now they'll ship later this year, Microsoft says.
